NOVEMBER WORKSHOP: TIME TO MOT YOUR BIKE BEFORE THE WINTER TRULY SETS IN!

It is finally here: the moment when leaves, rain and mud reign supreme. Layer up, because winter is setting in and will be here for months! Wet dirt can be pretty damaging to your bike, and brakes may not work well in the rain, so this is a good moment to get your bike MOTed, to check everything works well and that it is super safe to ride.

November 15th

Come along to our next bike mechanics workshop, taking place Thursday, November 15th, 7-9pm at the Old School Rooms in Clapton Round Chapel, Hackney (Check our About page for address details ). Our experienced mechanics can help you with problems you may be having, teach you simple repairs, oil your chain and explain how to keep your bike safe and protected during the winter.

Your bike will feel so much better afterwards! It will be a productive session, so come early to make sure we have enough time to assist you.

Usual reminder and kind plead: we are a volunteer-run, donation-based group, meaning that this workshop entirely relies on donations from the London cycling public to survive, so donate if you can. Even a couple of pounds make a difference to us!

Also, we are recruiting volunteer bike mechanics, best if qualified but if you know how to fix, we would love to hear from you. Get in touch or come along: we would love to get to know you!

OCTOBER WORKSHOP: DON’T IMPRISON YOUR BIKE, KEEP CYCLING IN AUTUMN AND WINTER!

Yes, leaves are starting to line sidewalks and gutters... cycle path may look a bit less tidy and the air is getting chillier by the day. While we don’t deny that a cup of hot chocolate is in order and that this is the best season to snuggle on the couch, it’s also important for your body and mind to keep exercising and to be outdoor.

It’s easy to see cycling as a sunny-weather-only activity, but we promise you there are lots of rewards for getting out on your bike during the colder months. For one, it is the cheapest way to get around, especially with the help of out free bike mechanics workshop, which is happening this Thursday, October 11th, 7-9pm at the Old School Rooms in Clapton Round Chapel, Hackney (Check our About page for address details ).

Cycling is also very time efficient: you save time (and money) on the gym if you commute to work, so it is a win-win. Plus, exercise keeps your mood elevated, a crucial thing for many of us affected by the gloom of the colder months. So we say, definitely have a hot choc at the end of your ride, but do keep cycling around town! You won’t regret it!

Did we convince you? We hope so: in that case, come and get your bike looked at before the real cold arrives. You want to re-oil your chain with a wet lube and get your breaks checked at the very least! Our experienced mechanics will be on hand to help you diagnose problems and teach you how to fix them.

Usual reminder and kind plead: we are a volunteer-run, donation-based group, meaning that this workshop entirely relies on donations from the London cycling public to survive, so donate if you can. Even a couple of pounds make a difference to us!

SEPTEMBER WORKSHOP: THIS IS SUCH A GREAT MONTH TO RIDE AND GET YOUR BIKE READY FOR THE COLD!

It also happens to be a great time to get your bike looked at before the inevitable colder months arrive. You want to re-oil your chain with a wet lube and get your breaks checked at the very least!
